Every Friday morning, SFGATE finds the biggest headlines in local (and sometimes national) beer. Check back here weekly for news, events, and information about special releases from your favorite local breweries.

Magnolia Brewing, the Haight Street brewing stalwart headed by industry vet Dave McLean, has been acquired by New Belgium for $2.7 million. The 37-barrel capacity brewery will continue to operate its main brewpub on Haight Street as well as its Smokestack barbecue joint.

Speaking of Dave McLean, he’s curated the Beer Lands tent at Outside Lands’ 10th anniversary event, taking place this weekend. Paste has the list of every beer being poured at the event; check it out here

In case you’ve been under a rock, Toronado, another Haight Street landmark, is turning 30! Over the last couple weeks, local brew stars including The Rare Barrel, CellarmakerBarebottleAlvarado Street, Sante Adairius, Temescal Brewing, Fieldwork, and more have been brewing up special beers in honor of the storied beer bar and its notoriously salty employees. This Saturday is the main event, so get there early to partake.

Fieldwork‘s Monterey beer garden is preparing to open! See our feature with them about their recent San Mateo taproom opening.

Laughing Monk is working on a collab with San Luis Obispo’s Libertine. A sour perhaps?

For those who don’t often find themselves in Alameda, Faction is doing a tap takeover of Diving Dog in downtown Oakland this Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. Imbibe in a full giant lineup of their beers on tap this weekend.

Lagunitas has released tickets for its annual Beer Circus, taking place in Petaluma on October 21.

Benoit-Casper is offering 10 percent off beers on Saturday following the massive Rosie Rally, which pays homage to Rosie the Riveter and the women who worked in shipyards and factories during WWII.

Anchor and ThirstyBear are collaborating on a new red rye ale called Barbary Coast.

Golden Road has resubmitted plans for it planned Temescal-area taproom in Oakland. This new plan features a smaller proposed taproom and shorter operating hours.
